did you fully service the carb  incl the  low speed cct side channel to the top half of the carb and under the  small  top plug… check  LS needle point

      check needle packings

Yes drilled out plug and removed low side needle. Blew out all passages and also removed hi speed needle and cleaned everything. I just took off the flywheel. The key way is slightly squashed but was still lined up with the flywheel I torqued it to 45 ft lbs. I will get a new keyway and go from there

the side channel is very narrow make certain you can blast carb cleaner  from the side into the  upper LS needle cavity (needle out)  and if you  block the empty cavity with your finger   carb cleaner should exit into the idle drip chamber under the plug .

Update! My local store had a key way. I double checked timing and cleaned teflon grease from breaker plate and used dielectric grease. Started it up and it ran like crap at first. It cleared up and ran good. I ran it for 30 minutes in the barrel without stalling. Not sure what exactly did it. Maybe ignition , maybe reed valve sticking. This engine probably sat for a very very long time. Thanks all for the help. I dont drink but i think its time for a beer
