      Gents,

Just got my little Merc 60 running like a top. It has the smaller style Mercury fuel fitting of that time period, and when trying to running the carb out of gas, I disconnected the fuel fittings and fuel came squirting out of the motorside connection. It does not appear to have a check valve/rod like on the larger style motorside fitting. I checked my parts motor and another spare small fitting, and none of them have the rod. Was that the case on the ’61-’63 Merc 60s, or do all three fittings that I have just happen to be missing the rod-style valve? I can always remove the hose from the tank to run the carb dry, but it seems strange to me for these not to have a valve on the motorside fitting.

      Thanks,
      JP

        Howdy Jason,

No, the small adaptor does not have the spring-loaded plunger to seal when disconnected.

        Regards,
        Joe
