      I got it, thanks again. I just had to get on a real computer. That manual will help a lot. I need to pull the powerhead to get into the carb. And while I am there I will get into the impellers.

      It is running now only if I squirt gas into the carb. The fuel pump must be a integral part of the carb (?)

        Marvel-Schebler SUM carb, never heard of that type, should be interesting.

          ‘Interesting’ is one word I’ve heard describing that miserable chunk of hardware, but not the one most commonly used. And yes, the fuel pump is part of the carb, it’ll be easy to spot if you ever get the carb off.
          BTW, I too got started in this hobby on one of those motors, and I’ve tried mightily to stay away from them ever since. They’re nice when they run, but working on them tends to expand your vocabulary..

            I had recently bought one of those low profile motors just to see what everybody’s complaining about. On that carburetor be careful when working around that float or you may be spending a lot of your time trying to get it back together right. You can still get the carb rebuild kits for those. Mine has about 65 pounds compression and seems to idle well. That’s is I have only run this motor in a barrel.

              When I started collecting I saved one of these from the "chopper" for ten cents a pound. Then I paid fifty bucks for a parts motor and got two water pumps (it needs both to pump), a shift dog, and a hood to get it running good. But I never ran it on my boat because it had a less than 15" transom length. McCulloch was into racing (gokarts etc.) so this one was pretty quick, in the tank. Pulling the powerhead wasn’t to bad with 1/4" sockets and long needlenose. I sold it for what I had into it plus a 60’s Chrysler 6. I told the guy to make sure it was submerged to the anti-cav plate to cool. He called me back and said it blew up and bought back the Chrysler that only needed a primary wire and was a very smooth runner.
