Can someone tell or show me where the pee hole is on my old Mercury Kiekhaefer 6hp? It runs very well but I don’t see any pee hole water stream?

If it’s like the 7.5/9.8 engines, there is a small hole in the driveshaft housing, (“Exhaust housing,” if you’re an OMC guy) at about the level of the bottom of the shroud that covers the power head mounting studs. I forget which side of the engine. You can try to clear it with the red nozzle that comes with a can of WD-40 or similar, or blow compressed air up there. They are very, VERY prone to plugging up with corrosion. Sometimes you have to pull the power head off to clear it; but that’s a last-resort situation.

        Long live American manufacturing!

On a Mercury Kiekhaefer 6 hp outboard (especially the older 1960s–1970s “single-cylinder” style models), the cooling-water indicator — often called the “pee hole” — isn’t always in the same obvious spot as on newer motors.

          Here’s what you should know:

          • Many older Mercury Kiekhaefer 6 hp models did not have an external telltale at all from the factory. Instead, the cooling water exited through the exhaust relief ports high up on the back of the midsection, just under the powerhead. You’d see water mist or spray mixed with exhaust there.
          • If your motor has been modified or is a slightly newer design with a telltale, it’s usually a small hole on the starboard (right) side of the motor, just below the powerhead cover — often near the shift lever or cowling seam.
          • If you don’t see a little round hole, then your motor’s “pee” function is happening
            • through those rectangular exhaust relief openings, and that’s completely normal for that era.

If you want a modern-style pee stream for easier monitoring, many owners add a fitting to the thermostat housing or upper water jacket and run a small hose to the cowl side.

Mercury Kiekhaefer 6hp twins thru the Mark 7 discharged the cooling water into the exhaust
            manifold. No p hole.
I helped a fried renew parts on
a later Black Merc which did have a P hole. The White Merc 60 6hp may have a P hole.
            Clear as mud?
            Good Luck
