Does anybody happen to have the spec for a three blade prop for a 7.5 feetwin? (1955)
Blade pitch etc. My 7.5 can just barely get me on plane, i’ve heard the three blade prop does a little better and getting it out of the hole. I’d like to see if I can’t match one up somewhere
June 20, 2016 at 12:07 am #38631It would have to be an aftermarket prop (such as a Michigan). OMC only offered the stock 2-blade 8" x 8-1/2" semi-weedless.
June 20, 2016 at 4:53 am #38647MIchigan offered (at least for a little while) AM415 and AM416, both 3-blade 8X8 for 12-14 runabouts. These appear in the ’63 catalog, but the AM415 (brass) does not appear in the ’68 catalog.
June 20, 2016 at 4:14 pm #38664Thanks very much fellas. I have discovered some wear on the throttle linkage. (Where the ignition plate rubs on the throttle actuator)
I am going to see if rectifying that will get the RPMs up a little bit first. This motor runs ok, but seems do not run as fast as I think it could.
Not sure if the revs are down a bit because it’s fighting to get on or stay on plane, or due to age and wear.I sense that finding a three blade prop for this motor may be rather difficult?
June 22, 2016 at 8:20 pm #38779i got a 5.5 fisherman and it pushes my 12 foot aluminum boat at 13-14 mph depending on wind,i am 200lbs,boat is 70 lbs,and i always got a minkota trolling motor and battery in boat with me so if your 7.5 runs faster than that no need to change prop they are old motors after all.

My boat is an older 12′ springbok, so unsure of its weight. the PO caulked along the entire length of the keel and along the bottom of the transom, so there could be some drag from it? Next time out, I’m going to have the battery mounted right up front and the gas tank in the center of the boat. I have no idea how fast I am going as I dont have a GPS. I’ll likely have to gauge any improvements if any by feel/sound.
Also thinking my transom might be a bit on the short side -
