All right, you know youre a wrench turner at heart when the only thing that peaks your interest is when you see an old Evinrude in a movie and want to know what it is.

In this 90’s movie ‘scream,’ the woman is trapped in a cat/dog access flap in a garage door trying to escape from a knife totting serial killer. Shes about to get chopped in half by the garage door. Big whoop.

Well I couldnt help notice the evinrude in the background, with what appears to be a jet drive? I think the motor based on the cowel is a late 60’s 55hp or early 70’s 60hp?

Yes – I don’t know if it’s OMC or aftermarket. but I have seen several Evinrudes converted to jet drive. It can run in shallower water, but you lose some 20% of your horse power doing that. My nephew had a friend with a big inboard jet drive, 350 horse power – it could suck flat rocks off the bottom in four feet of water pulling water skis. He had to replace the impeller 2 or 3 times. Last time it broke the housing and sunk the boat. Now he uses an outboard . . . 🙄

          That looks to be a 1974 70hp
