72T Powerhead Removal

Plan is to remove the powerhead to repair (braze) the broken muffler shell mounting hole boss.

Are there any concerns to be aware of when removing the Powerhead?

It appears to be straightforward with no real concerns.

After removing the (4) PH bolts will the water tube easily separate from the powerhead.

[Tubs]

Water tube stops at the fitting. There is a gasket for the seal.
You might have to pull and wiggle the power head some to
get the crankshaft and the drive shaft to separate.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

You may find this interesting.

My 72T powerhead has a square drive coupler, se pics.

Starboard side piston, rings and cylinder are in good shape.

Gasket is also in good condition and plan to reuse unless otherwise advised.
