Get on ME crankcase & cylinder page for 1974 115/135. Look at parts #52, 83, 66, & 45. Remove bolt #52 & nut #83. Separate bell rank levers #66 from #45. A pin fits thru the shift rod under the carburetors. It is important to keep up with all of the bushings. When putting it back put the bellcrank levers back together over the shift lever pin and over the small end at #83. Tighten the nut (#83). Put #52 bolt back thru bellcrank levers into block. Be sure all bushings are in place. If you are going to clean the carbs, this will go a lot easier the first time with the carbs out of the way. Once you do it and see what is going on it is a snap! Harder to explain than to do.

Ah HA…now it makes sense. Yes, with carbs there not much room, but doable. THANKS DAN!!

Unbolt the pivot bolt. Bell crank will split.

I tried hooking up the factory harness today, no change. The lug on the solenoid for the positive cable is stripped so I can’t get the cable tight enough. Ordered one so I hope it shows by the weekend. In the mean time I’ll clean all electrical contact points and hope for the best. Thanks for the help with the lower removal Dan, got that off today. As you can see, it’s a mouse motel in there. The lower turns and shifts ok so at least if the motor is a bust I can recoop my $100 purchase price with that. I do not see any evidence of it leaking but have not drained the lube yet. I don’t know why I torture myself with these things… I might be better off selling mice.

Boy o boy, nice how the mice left an escape hatch for themselves.
