Nice “coolection” !     congrats  …. happy hours ahead …. may they all have cracked coils 🙂   I find working on oldies is a good way to purge  our  minds of daily and world concerns . 🙂

Sounds like you have some winter projects to keep you busy!
I’ve never seen a TD Johnson above 75 psi and usually wore
        out, and much lower!

        Prepare to be boarded!

Sounds good John!  Those compression readings look good.  Motors that have been setting a long time sometimes have low numbers.  Me I don’t worry about compression until the motor won’t start then I investigate.   The more these old kickers run, the better they run.  Maybe you might have some new coils in those baby’s.  Heck you will be half ways to going fish’en!   The fun of this hobby is investigating and diagnosing a problem.   Think about a grandpa and a grandson going boating.   Like Alan Jackson says  “75 Johnson with electric choke”!   Memories that will never be forgotten!   when daddy let me drive!

I put the QD to the test today and peeked through the inspection hole in the flywheel. The coils look brand new, the points look really good. I put the spark checker on and cylinder 1 jumps bright blue more than 3/8″. Cylinder 2 is a bit weaker, blue spark but just about 1/4″. Looks like it might be missing once in a while as well. Going to pull the flywheel and clean up both points and install new wires (wires are old, that’s probably my weak spark on #2).

Anyway – Yes, I agree with all the comments. I was like a kid at Christmas last night. Couldn’t wait to get to sleep so I could get up this morning and get started…!!!

I have to focus my attention tho’. I still have my /49 TD20 that I’m restoring to finish. THEN I get to have ALL the fun.

            Thanks all,

weak spark may be  a bad/weak  condenser  or points  which  need a good cleaning…again.
