I have a 1967 evinrude 9.5 that is slow and wont get my boat to plane. I have chance ro purchase a 1962 10hp. Will it be faster/more power? Will it be heavier than my 9.5? Thanx

same question….  what boat size are you pushing ….

is the engine tuned  properly…firing on both cyl ?  carb clean ?    an extra .5hp may not be  the solution

9.5 are low compression motors  and  more of a  fisherman’s friend  for trolling.  some folks love them    some don’t

        mine is a back-up kicker / troller

My experience is that the 9.5 hp is less powerful that the 10 hp. However, if the 9.5 isn’t getting you on plane then a 10 won’t either. Are you sure the 9.5 is working to it’s potential?
