At least 70% of the time I am repairing one of these 9.5’s, this water tube grommet is missing. #0309607

I can’t locate them (well, sporadically they are for sale for a ridiculous amount on M.E. or other sites).

So I was wondering if anyone has come up with a substitute for this part. Seems like the 1 thing on these motors that is an Achilles heel during the repair process. SOMETIMES, you can run the motor without it, but that’s just borrowed time in my opinion.

yes to M.E., but that is sporadic because they buy out NOS closeouts from various sources. Just wondering if there is another substitute for long term planning. Plus with M.E., you have to buy not only the grommet, but the washer seal that goes below the grommet, so for $36.00 + $8 shipping, that is cost prohibitive.

Look at #382296 water pump kit complete (w/housing). Does it contain these parts? I can’t tell, but ME has a parts exploded view. There are a couple of seal like items with the kit. The kit sells for $69.33 and I am sure most 9.5 need a complete kit by now, not just an impeller. That would be one way to justify the higher cost.
