Try and guess what followed me home? I have never seen one. The electric start is on the top of the motor!!! My friend Jim, who has hundreds of motors, has never seen one either. Any background from anyone?
      Thanks in advance

With a light on top? Yeah, they made a few. If you post the model number, I might have a parts list.

          It looks like vwb27910a.
No light on it. Key start. Electric start motor sitting on top of the motor!! I guess it turns the crankshaft.

I think Chrysler made a variant of motors like this. Starters on top with a big hump in cowl. Kind of ugly but really cool at the same time. 70’s vintage I think. They made identical sea king versions.

Yes. Direct drive starter-generator. Info is in Chrysler manuals.

Well, no I guess I don’t have that one. In fact, I can’t even find it listed. I see 27910R which is a 1968. Look at your serial number. The numbers preceeding the "X" indicate the year, when you reverse them. In other words 86X = 68 (1968)

Frank, thanks for looking. The serial number is 86X10775.
I emailed a picture to you. Interesting motor. And the electric start works!!!

I sent you the 1969 rope start parts list. If it is any use to you, fine. Chrysler wasn’t noted for making a lot of changes

I picked up the Chrysler cousin of your Sea King this weekend.
