Nice!!!
September 3, 2016 at 4:32 pm #43222Okay. This motor looks so interesting that it jumped the line and is now on the bench. I removed the three bolts holding down the housing over the flywheel and expected it to lift off. No such luck. Any suggestions? I have to get under the flywheel because it doesn’t have any spark.
Thanks in advance
BobSeptember 3, 2016 at 5:55 pm #43224Somewhere back in my foggy memory, it seems like you have to remove the cap off the starter, then the flywheel nut/bolt. Then it will lift off—I think.
September 3, 2016 at 6:48 pm #43225Frank, I sent you an email with a picture of the top of the electric start. My memory is just as foggy.
September 3, 2016 at 8:29 pm #43229I’m pretty sure Ben Dittmar has a instructional video on his chrysleroutbarddude youtube channel where he is removing the flywheel on an electric start Chrysler of similar size. If i find the link I’ll post it. It may help.

Thanks for all the help.September 5, 2016 at 2:36 pm #43329Does anyone know the torque for the flywheel nut? I got old stock points and condensers from a friend of mine. Now it has great spark! Isn’t it great having friends? The only thing different from a normal motor is I had to make sure the key was turned to the on position to get Spark! Thought about it just as I was going to sleep last night trying to figure out why I didn’t have spark. Life is good! Enjoy.

September 5, 2016 at 5:56 pm #43342My specs for a ’68 9.9-hp , including ES models, says 600 in/lbs for the flywheel, 300 for the armature bolt.
September 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm #43613Great news! Put the motor in the tank and it fired right up! It’s as if it was just run last week! Pumped water great, it’s going to be a great little motor. In fact , The guys that were with me wanted to buy it! That’s probably the best compliment that you can get. My question now is can you hook up remote control steering and such to the motor. I’ve got a Crestliner that is set up for OMC controls. Are controls available for Chrysler’s? Thanks in advance, Bob
