A-70 carb question

      Hello, just picked up a 1934 johnson a-70. I am cleaning out the carb. There is a spring loaded brass sleeve at bottom of carb that contacts housing below it. Is there supposed to be a gasket between them? I took pictures on lowest camera setting but cant seem to attach them
