      How many other OMC outboard motors have the same diameter starter pulley as the older 3hp outboards?

      I am doing a retro fit on an

      HD-20 and I am in search of a pulley, spindle and pawl ring.

      This is the older style 3 pawl assembly.

          So, today, I found a 1957 Evinrude Lightwin 3022 on Craigslist for $25 and I jumped on it.  It has the later elliptical style hand starter assembly, but nevertheless I got a complete motor with two new mags in it.

          Hopefully, I will still be able to find an earlier style pullrope pulley close to that price.  I found a pawl ring and it’s on it’s way here.  Now I just need a pulley, rope and center spindle and I should be good to go.

            I’m not exactly sure what you’re trying to do; but if it helps, I recently found myself with Lightwin starters coming out of my ears. I would be glad to send you one for the cost of shipping, if that’s what you need. The only catch is that they are in the basement of a house I rent to some germaphobes, and so I won’t be able to get to them until after they leave for the season, in mid-September.

              Yea that will be great.  I’m in no hurry as I’m doing outside projects right now.

              If you have one with the 3 pawl set up, that is what I need.  It looks like those would be on the ’55 and older on JW and Lightwin.  I believe in ’56, they went to the single plastic eliptical pawl.  My newly acquired ’57 Lightwin is the later style.

                Would what you need be the same as a TD 20? I know the housing would be bigger but the pulley might be the same. I’m pretty sure I have a TD 20 but also pretty sure my Lightwin ones are all single pawl. I guess I won’t know for sure until I look.

                  it looks like ’55 and older JW/Lightwin is the only thing that will work on it.  ’56 and later has the single elliptical pawl and I need the older 3 pawl system.   the 1954-’55 5.5 CD pulley will likely work.
