Wondering whether these can be re-used.
Drive Dog

The cradle was rusted in place, so the surface where it sits is slightly rough/pitted.Forward Gear

classicomctools@gmail.comAugust 8, 2016 at 9:53 pm #41781Agreed, those are shot. Too much is gone on the gear teeth. I would place an ad here for a NOS gear set with a new clutch dog. Or, maybe someone has a good used set. Shouldn’t be hard to find.
August 8, 2016 at 10:55 pm #41787Put them up on ebay for sale as "slightly used" 🙂
Kidding aside, lots of guys should be able to help. What are they from?

They from my ’56 Johnson 10hp. I know you offered some parts to me a while back so I may contact you again if that’s okay. Although, now it seems like I practically need an entire gear case, which might end up being more cost effective.

You can email me at sdpiazza@aol.com and I’ll check in the meantime.
August 9, 2016 at 1:06 pm #41831I have a complete gear case for it call me 1 914 310 7086 Dave.
August 15, 2016 at 6:11 pm #42121So I picked up a complete gear case with new seals and a new impeller. Seller thought it was from a ’57 15hp which I don’t think exists, so I compared parts numbers for a 57′ 18hp and 56′ 15hp which all checked out fine.
Here it is.

Problem is I think there is some missing material.

Compared to mine.

The prop also seems damaged, and the hub seems off.

Compared to mine.

The props are definitely different pitches though, which I figured. (mine on the bottom)

Prop that came with it on.

My prop on. (The prop nut still fits on)

Any ideas what caused the damage and if its superficial? I didn’t take the prop off when I got it so I didn’t notice the damage. Seller said I could bring it back if I had any problems so not the end of the world. I could also swap all the parts over to my empty gear case.
