      Hello,
I am trying to find compatibility and wiring instructions for the vintage airguide tachometers with 50s OMC motors. the 56 and 57 30s and 35s.
The only source that I had found for documentation looks to have closed down, classicboatworks.com.

I couple of years ago I purchased what I thought was a 653 with sending unit and put it on a shelf. The wire connection label is missing from the sending unit and I dont want to destroy it guessing.
Is there a resident expert or someone that has a set of instructions they would be willing to share? Maybe a pictures of the label on a 4 wire sender.

I have exclusively 1950s OMC motors but this particular application will be for a 1957 evinrude 35.

I am attaching pictures of what I have now. The sender has 4 wires at the back. Black, green, white, and maybe an off white. The Tach has 2 wires and 2 terminals, I assume light and tach.
Can anyone positively identify this tach, is it really a 653? Is the sender the correct sender? I saw a post showing another 653 but it had a 5 wire sender.
If this is the wrong one, what are the identifying features of the 653? Most of the ones I see for sale are just called out as “airguide tachometer” without a model number.

Lastly, I know that the senders are getting rare. A few folks have mentioned efforts to reverse engineer them. Has anyone had any success yet?

I have complete instructions but find them hard to post. If this doesn’t help, maybe I can send them to you directly. Some how?

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

If you blow this picture up it says “ for 653 and 654 “ on the face of the tach. This is a new in box tach I’ve been saving for a upcoming project. I’ve never had the chance to use it yet

That’s 90% of the directions in my tach box. The only thing left out is mounting information.
