I picked up an Alumacraft FD last year. The serial number is FD 5462. Would anyone know what year this might be? I’m thinking 1956 possibly 1957.

If you contact Alumacraft they’ll look it up for you. They did for me about 10 years ago. Impressive customer support.

I’ve initiated a contact since last summer and no return yet. I have a model R 222 that i want the year of manufacturer for… No reply yet. They told me my FD was a ’59 but that contact was5 years ago.

That isn’t encouraging. At this point, I am pretty confident that mine is a 1956. Your model R is a pretty low serial number. Yours might be from the first year. I don’t know what year they started building the R. I know they were available in 1954 so I doubt yours is any newer than that.

Wayne, my FD serial number is 8504 and AlumaCraft said it’s a 1959, hope that helps. Jim

Billw, you should have seen the look on my wife’s face when I told her I was driving down to Texas to buy it. My buddy and I put 5000 km on her new SUV that weekend. That was an entire adventure in itself.

So far, I have found one confirmed 1957 FD that is a little more than 100 boats newer than mine so I’m assuming the boat is a 1957. I’m still waiting to hear back from Alumacraft.
