For years and years there have been 43 cars in all winston cup/sprint cup races. But at Daytona only 40 and last week the Atlanta race only had 39. Anyone know what’s up?

March 6, 2016 at 1:07 am #32978Ticket sales are down for a while now, less money to go around. They’ve had a number of field filler teams (start and park) for a quite a while, seems like they can’t make a go of it.
March 6, 2016 at 5:28 pm #33020Watched every weekend in the 80’s and 90’s.
Started loosing interest with the almost week
rule changes to keep everybody even. If some
one was doing to well they changed the rules
to slow them down. The chase was the end for
me. NASCAR has ruined NASCAR.
Ticket sales would seem to indicate
that there are more than just myself.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
March 6, 2016 at 5:46 pm #33022The biggest put – down is that they are NOT stock ! They could still go back to the old ways as some local tracks have done. But now everything is homogenized and pasteurized , no difference , same old stuff with the graphics most interesting.
March 6, 2016 at 10:23 pm #33034They haven’t been "stock" for 30 or more years, depending on your definition of "stock". They’ve really only had ticket sales problems for the past few years. I think one key thing was changing the schedule around all the time. There were traditional dates where people went to the race every year, Southern 500 for instance. When they changed the schedule, the tradition was broken. Nascar seemed to think they would sell out no matter what and the fans would follow along. Just shows how careful businesses should be about some of the loyalty things. In outboards it makes me think about certain name brands relabling import motors with their own name and asking customers to accept that they are the motors they expect. Short term profits for long term reputation decline.
March 7, 2016 at 2:25 am #33051Today’s race may pinpoint some of their problems – let’s say you watch all this race and at the end first place is way out front, but there is a 3 way battle for 2nd place with a last lap pass for 2nd place – but all you get to see is 1st place cruising around to the checkers. I turned it off right away, not gonna watch 10 minutes of commercials to see what I should have been shown after watching way too many commercials all day long! They are losing me and probably why viewership is down. Any more, just tune in for the last 20 laps – but you still won’t get to see the best racing on the track!!
March 7, 2016 at 8:13 pm #33073NASCAR is like flushing a bag of Skittles down the toilet. Watch the pretty colors go ’round and ’round…
Caveat: Just one guy’s opinion…
LarryMarch 8, 2016 at 1:28 am #33096I was a Bill Elliott fan for many year, it’s cool to see his son Chase moving up. Some of the other spoiled brats, not so much. I liked the days when the drivers were more involved with the teams, helped to work on the car. Actually knew how to fix it.
