          Well there are several ways to look at it. Yes the part broke after 40+ years but the item was probably figured to last  15 so it did well exceed what it was designed for. Also parts were available and people or service centers could repair it. That’s the way we used to do it. Now items are designed to be usable for a time and not be repaired at all. Parts availability non existent. All this bull about being a green society and we put more in the dump than we ever did before.
