I ordered some more parts today, and I was told that the bottom impeller is the one for the motor, is this correct? Also I need to make some new pins for the impellers, can someone tell me the size I need, and wood brass work? Thanks as always. CSW

On my 7.5 Scott bailamatic I redid it was the lower impeller that supplied water to the engine. The upper impeller is for the bailamatic function and is closer to the bailamatic hook-up for the hose that goes to the inside of boat to bail it out when running.

I re-did mine with a new Honda impeller. I used a Honda impeller because they are easy to purchase new and cost around 15-18 bucks a piece.

I had to shim the water pump I used a piece of stainless steel from a wall paper tool I had that I had purchased at Lowes. I epoxied it into the impeller housing and had to cut a hole in it for water to go through. I also used some of that stainless to make a shim for the impeller to slide onto the shaft. I am posting pics of what I did.

I was in Florida so I didn’t have a lot of tools just had to do the best I could with what I had. I would liked to have had the stainless that went into impeller housing made-up as one piece that pressed into the impeller housing the way I did it as the impeller spins running it steps down where the stainless wrapped around itself. I figured it was better stepping down than stepping up which would rip the impeller. I guess this is some of Jerry Rigging at it finest but it was a poor design to begin with now at least it works and I can obtain new impellers.

Hope this helps and gives you some ideas.

        Joe
