Can’t remember or figure out what it is or where it goes?

      EDIT:

A little more information and 3 more detailed pics for you all….

After much thought (and the fact that I found this item in my box of RDE19 Parts) I think if this does belong to a motor it may well be for an RDE or RJE?

Not that it is 100% relevant, because I can be a bit scatter-brained, but it was in a ziplock with the pin, cotter pin and washers for the carburetor solenoid link connection for the RDE.

It is HARD plastic and definitely molded to this shape. This is not a squished something to make-due or ‘rig’ a solution. One of the pics show the ‘slot’ inside where the item would slip over on to a pretty thin (1/8″) piece of ?

Next, all that said, my recollection is not good enough to even tell you where on the motor I “THINK” it came from.

Lastly, I probably dreamed the whole thing – Every search of every parts guide showed nothing unless I am missing it…

      Thanks again all!

      TIA

Maybe the rubber bushing for the bottom of the swivel tube. Part No. 58 in the attached diagram. The diagram is for a 1958 model so need to verify. Johnson Lower Unit Group Parts for 1958 5.5hp CD-15 Outboard Motor

Maybe someone cobbled that in to replace a bumper for mounting the shroud, or put it over a shrunk shroud bumper to cure a rattle.  Part number 77 (2 rquired) at the link below:

I’m pretty sure i would remember that.

I’ve scoured the parts diagrams and can’t find it. Almost 100% sure it belongs on a motor, I remember fitting it where it belongs a couple of years ago, but it escapes me now.

I also have a couple of RD 35HP and a QD15 that maybe it belongs to?

            Thx

For some reason the lower comes to mind when I look at this piece… (either CD12 or QD15?)

Does not look like a stock piece I’ve ever seen from a CD, AD, QD, FD, or Evinrude equivalent. RD I’m not familiar with.

Kinda’ looks like the prop nut rubber cover on a CD-12 that somehow got squished flat.

Yeah. I just finished going through every parts guide for all my motors page by page. No dice. I must have dreamed about finding the fit…

Gonna size it up tomorrow for a ‘squish’ review…lol

                    Thx all

Very interesting indeed, what are the approximate dimensions?  Where on the engine did you find it??

On second look I see the part is on ruled paper which provides some scale. It’s much smaller than the part I referenced.

This makes more sense. It does look like a squashed piece of fuel line substituted for a front bumper mount. I think I see the reinforcement fibers in the cross section where it may have been cut. Maybe see if it fits on the mounting stud on the intake manifold.
