AOMCI Election. I received my ballot few weeks ago & noticed an empty slot for VP Communications. Not sure why no one put there name in. As most know i had to step away as Webmaster for 2023 due to my day job work load. I will be ready to get back at volunteering my time to AOMCI again in 24. I’m letting everyone know I’m writing in my name for VP Communications if elected will do what i can to help build the AOMCI in years to come. If you haven’t filled out your ballot as of yet consider me as a write in . Thanks

October 13, 2023 at 7:56 am #281588On the subject of election and sorry to ask…. why aren’t the elections done via e-mail to ensure maximum participation, save mailing/handling costs to/from AOMCI and members .
Maybe be I missed something but even faxing or .JPGging back the ballots would have been simpler no ?

October 13, 2023 at 10:56 am #281590Everyone,
The council has tried for years to find a program that would provide voter security to no avail. It has been researched many times and tabled because we could not find a program that would ensure one member, one vote. Verification is the issue.

I agree. A ballot shows up with one person running for each office. What’s the point of voting if there is no choice? I’m not dogging on club members for not stepping up, I am grateful anyone wants to serve. I am a chapter treasurer and there is plenty of work that goes on to make chapter meets happen and I’m certain running the show on a national level requires far greater effort.
I realize setting up an electronic election system will come with costs, both financial and otherwise, but we’ve been mailing in ballots since the club was founded. Maybe it’s time to look at and for other options. Wasting the cost of a stamp, and mailing it in when there really is no choice to be made is pointless and impractical, as is witnessed by the abysmal response our membership has made in past elections. I’ve been a member since about 2005 so I’m a relative newcomer but it’s been a rare occasion when I’ve seen more than one candidate running for an office.

October 13, 2023 at 11:44 am #281595Seems a one time JPG from a members known E_mail adress should be secure enough ?
Heck a simple 5 didgit code could be e-mailed to each of us before and included in a returned e-mail or….antique fax to confirm our ID’s.
Banks Amazon Google all send us codes to confirm our ID’s . The old way was ok but today pretty much everyone has an e-mail . I am certain it would facilitate and increase voter participation and save money … win -win
maybe next year ?
