      I’d like to get a tach for my 30hp Big Twin but don’t know what model tach to be searching for. I’d appreciate any advice as to what makes and models I should hope to find.

        I think your best bet is a tiny tach or variant. Small digital and uses pickup wrapped around the spark plug wire. Pretty cheap.

        A period correct version I am not sure. Would guess that air guide? Or similar old version is out there but are often missing the external electronic bits that they need to work.

          Thanks Raglover. I had the same exact thoughts regarding both issues. Ideally, I’d like the dash of my ’56 FeatherCraft to remain period correct. With that in mind, maybe I’ll get the small digital tach and mount it using velcro. Then, I could mount it only as/when needed.
          I’ve seen those type tachs on ebay. I’d appreciate it if someone would respond to this thread if they’ve had any experience with one in particular.
