      This is the gear case from an RD 10. The RD 10 and 11 had a different gear case than the later RD models. I have seen a few of the early gear cases but don’t remember seeing any with the holes like this one has. They look very uniform and like they could be factory. If they weren’t factory, what would be the reasons for drilling them? Helps with exhaust? What are the potential pitfalls?

          I doubt it. Usually those bolt onto, and are an extension of, the anti-cavitation plate.

            Yeah, I’m out here. But I don’t know why anybody would drill those holes. Certainly not stock, in my opinion.
