I’m looking for some opinions on what kind of grease is preferable for the armature plate hub and the brass armature plate mount on OMC classics.

I have been using OMC Triple Guard and it works OK, but somewhere I read that Lubriplate 105 is actually better for this application.

      Thanks

I think any white lithium will work there.

The OMC Triple Guard is fine there. Just a light coat though….any grease that is too thin, and too thickly applied, will bugger up the points.

What Chris said. In fact, the factory routinely applied way to much of their "Type A", and it liquefied under vibration and fouled the points. Just a thin smear is all it needs, any more is just excess.

Thanks Gentlemen. Now that I see these comments, I realize that I also have been applying too much grease on this assembly. I have been emulating what I’ve seen from the factory, but they apparently didn’t ALWAYS know what’s best.

Use the OMC "moly lube" sparingly for this application.
