Hi, I need a more experienced opinion on which way the armature plate support sits under the retaining ring which supports the mag plate. The plate support has a beveled shape with four screw holes. Looking at k the photos in various parts manuals, in the AD 12 7.5, the bevel goes up. In the 1957 7.5 Evinrude it goes up. BUT in 1958 QD-19 it shows down and in the 1966 6 hp Evinrude (6602) it shows down.

Does anyone know why these are different? Maybe the artists sketch is wrong. Maybe it doesn’t matter. The parts are the same for each motor. See photo.

There are two types.  One is flat on one side, other has a undercut for a wave (friction) washer.  Both types have the bevel on the other side.  In any case, the bevel always goes down. (Flat side up).  Yeah, the parts books often show it wrong.
