I looked on EBay for an impeller for a 1956 Evinrude 15 HP OMC 375638. Usually I wind up with Sierra. But EBay is loaded with Chinese made impellers for around $10. I have never tried one of these although the price is tempting. Does anyone have running experience with these? I just don’t want to lose a powerhead trying to save a few dollars.
April 21, 2023 at 10:20 pm #275399personnaly I have tried several models of China made impellers and never had issues.
I did hear some folks saying the adhesion between rubber part and the brass can break but it hasnever been my experience.
up to you I guess. today it seems…… some OEM stuff is made in china anyway

April 22, 2023 at 6:01 am #275408When the Chinese finally take over the US (and Canada) because they have put those two countries out of business, by dumping cheap product, their stuff won’t seem as cheap anymore, in hindsight. That’s if they let the Westerners live long enough to think about it. Was that too dark? Good.
Long live American manufacturing!

April 22, 2023 at 8:38 am #275410Very profound issue with roots fundamentaly being the unequal ownership and…..redistribution of wealth, freedom and happiness across humanity.
The redistribution, if not the consumption of this wealth (and all the benefits we currently derive from it as a society) is a slow continuing , unstoppable process with India eventually taking over China who self destroyed itself with their low birth rate controls for 50 years …
It is just a matter of time.
“Soylent green” and “The day after” were just a peek in the future to come.

April 22, 2023 at 1:03 pm #275421The only issue I’ve ever seen with Chinglish impellers is the quality of the material used in them. Most are soft and supple while a few I’ve had are almost as hard as a rock and need sanding down to fit correctly. I usually buy them in quantity from the ‘Make An Offer’ sellers with free or cheap shipping. I’m sure your BRP Evinrude dealer or Sierra source them from the same places.

April 22, 2023 at 5:30 pm #275430I would stick to OEM for something as critical as water pump parts. You can try chinese junk for some stuff that won’t harm anything if it fails. But, when a water pump fails, overheat damage is quick and irreversible.
