If I was to rebuild my Bendix Scintilla condensers with capacitors, what microfarad and and voltage rating should I use?

Seems like I end up using some .15 mfd caps the last time I worked a a Scintilla magneto.
If you tell us what particular motor / magneto, it may be listed in the Merctronic manual.

            I didn’t receive a P.M.

I’m sorry. This ignition is on a KG7. If condensers are NLA, a member suggested I make my own out of capacitors. I just want to be certain of the microfarad and voltage rating.

Search this site for more information, but there is more to it than the voltage and capacitance rating. The dV/dt is also important. See this post:

Not sure if this will help or not.

There has been an excellent series of articles in the Outboarder, culminating in the January issue addressing the condenser topic. I believe all your questions are covered.

Thanks for posting that link Tom. After reading it, I’ve come to the conclusion I should be on Vishays payroll! ☺

Ok, I guess I will search online libraries of articles in The Outboarder if that’s what you prefer. Thanks.
