Was able to obtain a replacement coil for my Champion Blue Ribbon 1J project. Of course the replacement coil is configured differently than the original. Original had a wire out each end and the replacement has both wires out one end.
Being new to all this, my working theory is that the 2 wires, one black and one red, constitute the primary; and the sparkplug connection ring is one side of the secondary.
My question is how to test it. I have two meters both only have a 2K ohm setting, no 1K. I get that I connect black to black and red to red across the primary to test it. How do I connect to test the secondary? Also, I can find no reference for expected values for this Bendix Scintilla coil.
I get numbers on the primary, bit nothing on the secondary.
Sorry, picture files are too large to send

Sorry for the confusion. My meter has a full range of settings. It just doesn’t have a 1K setting. See picture.

Set for 20K and got a reading of 3.8 on the secondary.
Thanks for stearing me in the right direction. Onward to getting spark. Thanks again. AOMCI is awesome.
