      I found a 50’s plywood speed boat seven years ago that I refinished and got the 1962 Merc 450 running.  It never ran as good as it could so it’s time to involve an expert as I’ve done all I can. Any Merc expert in south east Wisconsin interested in a cash job please get in touch with me here. Thanks in advance. Slim

        So I pulled up my socks and pulled the power head. Upside down on the work bench the distributor is easy to work on. The plug wires were loose and one bad connector. I’ll check the points tomorrow and clean the carbs. A temporary loss of confidence but back on track now.
