How do the hinges come apart on these? I have a nice cowl with a broken flap that I want to replace.

It’s been about 85 years since I’ve taken one apart, but the deal is that you have to slide the #13 hinge pin toward the center, compressing the #11 spring. Can’t remember how to get a grip on the hinge pin to slide it.

I have the same motor hood and I think the best way, is to carefully drill through the lower (metal) hood towards (end on) to the pin #13 with a 1/8th inch or smaller drill bit, which should allow you to push the pin in against the spring with a piece of wire or the drill bit, allowing you to move out one side of the flap door and then remove it sideways.

If that doesn’t work, you might have to bore a hole on the other side and do the same thing.

          Hopes this helps
