That Hull ID number follows a federal format that started in 1972.
Here is a link to how to decode it – be sure you scroll down and look at the two different options at this site, as format changed in 1984:

The letters designate the manufacturer – here is a link to the manufacturer’s ID, but note there should be three letters, so the "1" at the front of your code maybe the letter "I", or lower case L. I put in the NZ, and this link will show all 3 letter codes with NZ in them and/or manufacturer’s names with an NZ somewherre in them.

Note that mistakes are made – I have a 1996 Glastron (I know this is right because I bought it new) and the last two numbers are transposed, implying the year is 1969.
