I’m replacing the head and head gasket on a 9.8 Nissan for a friend of mine and I don’t have a service manual available, what should I torque the M6x1.0 head bolts to? I’m thinking 60-84 in lbs should do it.

All I have is torque specs for Evinrude and they are not in metric. They do give figures for most SAE bolts at the bottom.

Thanks Garry, I guess I’ll just torque them to 70 inch pounds and recheck once I get it up to operating temp and let it cool off.

Don’t torque them until you see stars and your knuckles turn white like the previous Bubba who worked on the last motor I tried to take apart!
