background……the kit I purchased was Amazon stuff from China

I did a pressure test on my CD   gc   and found it  leaking(Bubbles)  on the prop  shaft seal

Replaced the  prop seals  and falsely assume others were ok and closed up the GC …..mistake !

Found the Shift rod seal was leaking (bubbles)  so I decided to reopen the gc  and  change shaft and  shift seals … that went well

Wanted to check the underside of the impeller housing  so I lifted the  botton plate to access the clutch & replace the last seal under it . In so doing I tore it up in a pile of oily mush

      then….

      • mistakenly assumed I could replicate the orange  gasket to seal up the clutch area under the plate and then reinstall   all the original impeller housing saving my orange gasket for a rainy day.  That cd will be sold  so I kept it in my new kit …for now.
      • made some copies and upon reassembly, I felt someting was wrong because my new gasket  did not fit and was blocking the upcoming water  passage and that little curvy section would not seal things up & would allow water to access the lower GC oil section
      • in conclusion.. .all I had to do was  use my orange new kit gasket to  simply shape  a new  303399 .
      • Some will say  ” buy a 303399 🙂 ” but I hate ordering $5 U$ parts with $20U$ shipping plus  CDN exchange and taxes….
      • live and learn .. always  🙂

thanks for info …I managed to cut some with success  since the older  base gasket  pattern is not curvy like the  newer impeller base plate gasket.

I have the  pattern  and can now cut new ones for years to come !!!    .   I do not usually mess with the  GC sealing or the impeller base if I don’t have to .  Garage is filled with 3×4 HPs, couple of Cds  Merc 3.9  etc…  so my gasket making days  are slowing down  fast 🙂

thanks nonethless for the heads up
