We are talking about winter, and a guy from Florida dares complaining …
I suggest tar and feather for FrankR.

Surprise, we do have seasons here. The leaves have just fallen off the two trees in my front yard. And I have a supply of firewood for the fireplace. Nope, we don’t have snow and zero temps, but if I want to see that stuff I can jump in the car and head North. Doesn’t take me long to get back down here.

I’ve heard tar and feathers is not a good thing. My wife complains when she has to get it out of my shorts.

I’ll be doing some outside work that I’ve been putting off all summer because it was too stinking hot & humid to venture outside here in FL. As we speak, I’m fabricating some new porch posts to replace the ones that rot and termites have eaten the bottom off. Don’t think termites will eat cedar? Guess again.

I’m with you Frank. It finally gets down into the "70’s" and low "80’s", so we can go outside and enjoy ourselves.

I’ll be doing a 53 Fleetwin and a TD-20 in the basement. And watching chrysleroutboardude on Yutube.

Planning on finishing this one up, 1914 Lockwood-Ash that needs a repair on the crankshaft, new muffler can & end cap, and the gas tank needs straightening…

hope to refinish this one and get it painted all the right colour, early Evinrude rowboat motor with no skeg and smooth bullet nose lower unit

got some of these cast in silicon bronze as well as ductile iron, so expect to be machining up a couple of them. One is going to be fore a 1912 Evinrude crankcase, all I have is the crankcase and crankshaft at this point, crankshaft has to be welded up and remachined, some might think its pointless to do a lot of work on something that isn’t even all there, but ya never know when the rest of the motor might show up……

and there’s another motor that I’m working on, I have about 2 original parts to start with, everything else is going to be hacked out of various material in the basement, wish me luck…

            Best,

Fall is barely setting in here. I hope winter will be kind to us as well. 🙂
We haven’t even had any freezing weather yet, where I live. My wood stove will start to keep busy though.

which is fine for lots of folks 😀

when its to cold you can pile up and still get around and go ice fishing
when its to hot…. all you can do is go inside and hide and drink ice cubes 😆

For this winter, I’m trying to make the parts look like a Johnson PO-15 again.
Then after that, I need to re-visit a 7.5 hp Martin to see what’s ailing it.
Loads of potential "projects" hanging on the racks……. so I won’t be bored
                  this winter 🙂

As usual I have an abundance of projects in the queue. Right now I’m working on a pretty nice 1959 Evinrude 10hp Sportwin. It’s getting new rubber isolators for the lower cowl, carb rebuild, plugs, plug wires, points cleaning, timing set, and a gearcase reseal. EDIT: Just wrapped this one up on 12-18. Beat "winter" by a couple days, but can’t test run it since everything is frozen solid. On to the next. 😎

I have two Alumacrafts that need some work. New transom wood and straighten out the bend in the gunwale in my 14 footer is first. Then I need to work on the trailer to make it easier to launch and retrieve the boat. It also needs new lights and guide ons.

Then I need to at least redo the tiller cables and clean up my Flying C. Extend the trailer tongue, replace the lights, and add some rollers and stops to make it fit better. The 1960 Evinrude Lark 40hp on it need to be fully serviced as well.

Plenty more to do after that too, but that should keep me out of trouble for a bit

I am in the midst of a 1955 Johnson RDE-17 and it sounds like I will likely be picking up a 1952 Mercury KE-4 Rocket next weekend. That should be enough to keep me busy since it takes so long to get the shed warmed up but if it isn’t I still have my 1952 Larson boat to work on 😀

I have a list as long as my arm of motors that need attention, George. A well worn 1924 Ruddertwin and an 1956 Mercury MK25E are at the top of the list. You can check them out at the hardwater meet at my place in Jan.
