Have been running my injected ’96 F 150 on surplus fuel mix since it came off the lot twenty years ago. It likes it. In fact, it pulls harder with marked gas (mid grade) in the tank. The cats were removed before I bought it.

        quote crosbyman:

with Stabil or likewise products it will burn ok in the lawn tools next year

been doing this for over 30 years with no complaints from the tractor, mower, blower and trimmer

Stabil works for gasoline and gas/oil mixes….IF THERE IS NO ETHANOL IN THE GAS!…. and most of us are able to get ethanol-free gasoline. Regular Sta-Bil does nothing to prevent ethanol phase separation. ….but….There is a product called Sta-Bil-Ethanol that will prevent ethanol phase separation. Good luck trying to find that product! Sta-Bil also makes a product called Sta-Bil-Marine that is more available. This works too, in fact, the manufacturer claims it has twice the amount of ethanol stabilizer in it that Sta-Bil-Ethanol has.

Here is the best article I’ve found on ethanol phase separation:

Well Dave I’m probably going to regret posting this
but its actually takes over 5% of water at 60 degrees
before phase separation accrues in a 10% ethanol blended
fuel not the 3.8 tea spoons (0.50 of 1 %) as stated in
this article. This claim came from Sta Bil advertisements
but its not true and they no longer print it. He also states
"phase separation is less noticeable during the warmer
summer days " When your fuel pick up hits that goop in the
bottom of you tank your motor wont run no matter what the
outside temperature is. He probably meant to say less likely.
Words matter epically if that’s you job. Who ever wrote this
article was copying what others have written and never fact
checked it. None of these articles mention that for moisture
to enter a fuel the system it needs to be vented and most aren’t
today. The water comes from the air that enters the tank
through the vent. To prevent phase separation you stop air
from getting into the tank. If you cant seal the tank fill it up.
No room for air to enter.
No air – no water – no phase separation.
If you use only ethanol free fuel in a vented system you
will eventually end up with some water in the fuel. If
you live in a cold climate this water will freeze. This
was very common when I was a boy. Cars wouldn’t start
because the frozen water blocked the fuel to the carb.
The solution was to dump in a can of "Dry Gas" or
"Heat". These products were nothing more than some form of
          alcohol.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I helped my next door neighbor a few years ago do a difficult emptying of an inaccessible gas tank under the floor of a late 1970’s Ski Nautique boat where they had 10% ethanol gas in it (a vented tank) over a Minnesota winter and phase separation occurred big time. In the spring, trying to start it, this stuff got pulled into gas lines fuel pump and carb, all of which we had to purge out. Thanks, Tubs, for pointing out inaccuracies in the article I posted that I was not aware of. Accurate or not, I’ve seen proof that phase separation does occur and can be a real pain to clean out, so best to err on the side of being overly careful to prevent it, and I agree – filling a vented tank to the top helps whether there is ethanol in the gas ornot – I do that with my I’O ski boat with ethanol-free gas and no stabilizer of any kind – has worked for the last 18 winters.

Two stroke gas in your truck? Why not? Meanwhile, see about collecting donations from your neighbors for killing mosquitoes 😀 😀
