      I’m trying to hook up controls to 1958 18 HP Johnson. Fuel and shift. Will the 73 to 78 year kit work?..use 400 type cables?

        Yes and yes. But if it happens to have the old 1958 trunnion locks on the motor, they are too small for the adjustable plastic trunnion nuts on the new cables. Just replace with the later,larger locks.
