This one came to me with a gear drive magneto (what Jack calls a frame mount mag) and an aluminum transom clamp bracket.
Jack shows a similar one here: http://caille.8m.com/liberty-single/pho … index.html
No questions on this one, just some pics and comments.
This transom clamp had been through the wars – had been previously welded in nine places before the previous owner gave up.
Note the asymmetry – a Caille design feature to compensate for torque?

FWIW (about $0.035 Cdn) if it was me, I wouldn’t bother with the aluminum. Silicon bronze would be my choice.
Hope this helps.

December 8, 2016 at 3:59 pm #48852I could always paint it with aluminum paint 🙂
December 8, 2016 at 4:41 pm #48861I would consider loaning my casting out to use as a pattern if you want Bill…
with hopes of being able to buy one of the bronze repops…http://www.richardsoutboardtools.com

classicomctools@gmail.comDecember 8, 2016 at 11:30 pm #48887There was so much impurities in those old castings and the old torch welding seemed to lock the corrosion in.
