I know the tank is a pretty early model but don’t know years. ‘Course, the tank many not be the same age as the motor.
Looks a lot like my ’54. Tank may be older or not, I think that one was used with the SDs and early QDs (late ’40s – early ’50s). Somebody’ll know.
Front shift QD14, it’s a 1953
The 1954 had the more common shift selector lever off the side of the motor, but still had the raised seahorse logo on the side.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
Asa is right. Definitely 1953. First year for twist grip throttle, last year for the front shift and that style cowl. 1954 was first year for the side gear shift and the hinged flip up cowl and last year for the raised seahorse on the side. -Ben
