carb swap 5.5 to 6 hp

Hello guys!

Can I take a 1959 5.5 carb onto a 1966 6hp?

What is wrong with the original 6hp carb? The choke linkage is different, and there is no hole for the adjustable high speed needle found on the 5.5hp carb in the 6hp lower pan…
All that being said, I’m sure it can be done with some swapping of pieces. My question is why you would want to make this swap, I would just find another 6hp carb if yours is beyond repair…

The 5.5 carb doesn’t have the mounting point for the throttle lever, either. Different setup…

Thank you for your answers… In fact my firend lost his carb… I don’t know how… He asks me to adapt the one I have… 😉

Plenty of cheap 6hp carbs on ebay, or perhaps member classifieds…Not worth the effort re-engineering the 5.5 carb to fit…
