Continuing the rebuild of my three CD-11’s. Surprised to discover that this particular powerhead/parts was significantly different from the other two. Not painted green, and looks like the bottom half of the connecting rods and the bushing cap were copper coated?? Is this possibly a new powerhead that was installed at some point? Any idea of when OMC may have started to apply the coating (if indeed that is what it is?)

The blue paint suggests it is an Evinrude powerhead. Evinrude 5.5hp motors came out in 1956. That silver plating is the "bearing", an improvement over the plain aluminum. They started doing that sometime around 1956-ish, not sure just when.
