I am missing a round star shapped rubber bumper inside the hood (cowl) on my cd11…
I saw an alternative to OEM stuff way back but searches don’t bring up anything.
has anyone replaced them with a creative (cheap) solution ?
anybody ever “molded” one with plaster of Paris and used GOOP or Silicone to recreate one ?

February 3, 2022 at 3:25 pm #253902been searching for the rubber stubbies locally…
question….are these rubber stubbies used as walking cane rubber tip replacements… that is pretty much what I could fing around here
All I found hollowed out chair leg boots I could fill in with goop or silicone
UPDATE: Found lots of walking stick rubber tips on amazon that may be easy to adapted…. 🙂
I’ll visit my local sporting goods store for a close match to the other one I have left in my 5.5 hood.

February 3, 2022 at 6:03 pm #253906Not sure if this will help you crosbyman, I can’t see any pics as to what you’re referring to, but I’ve used larger size truck tire valve stems as a cheap replacement for bumpers. They’re about the same size and fit over the post real tight. Remove the valve core with the tool or needle nose, put the valve stem in a vise and drill it out, cut to length. If they come up a little short you can always add a small piece of hose on the post to extend them out a bit.
February 3, 2022 at 6:16 pm #253911Why don’t you try just using a piece of cut off fuel line? Not sure of the size needed but I think it might be a 1/4 or 5/16ths hose, cut to length so it overhands a tad. All it does is center itself in the cup and keep the hood from vibrating. It sure is a lot cheaper than buying tire valves and cutting them up. I would say maybe an inch or so long would do the trick!
Just a thought!

February 3, 2022 at 6:21 pm #253913I’ve used just pieces of hose too Rick. $5.19 for 4 stems is hardly breaking the bank. And they more closely resemble the originals, which seems to keep the cover tighter. It was just a suggestion, another option.
February 3, 2022 at 6:28 pm #253914great suggestions gents …I’ll try the all incl fuel hose & see what fits but the large valves are winning…:-)
and…. they have them at Canadian Tire stores 🙂 🙂
