Not sure this is appropriate to ask, but here goes. I am retired and recently cam across 5 old small outboard motors. Knowing very little, I chose to go ahead and start working on the one in the best shape. This would be the 1958 Johnson, 10hp. I have already reached out, and folks have been a great help. But there is nothing like meeting up with someone face to face to get guidance in greater detail when trying to trouble shoot a problem. So was just wandering if there are any members in the Central Florida area that would be up for some questions. I want to learn (ha – retired educator) and do as much as the work as I can. I have a complete wood shop and necessary tools. So if someone is nearby, we could share knowledge. Just thinking.

      Let me know.
      Thanks

There are several central Fl members that are very knowledgeable on the antique as well as the vintage motors. What city are you located in? We hold several meets a year in central Fl where help is always willingly given.

bc1972… if you are planning to work on oldies may as well visit the Johnson Red book bible on oldies at he URL shown in the picture below … I can’t post the link here because our replies go POOF!!

one good book to read for basic maintenance on oldies is CHEAP OUTBARDS
