      I can not get shift lever out of cap that is on rod for shifting trans I can not shift to forward or reverse cap seems to slip on rod is the shift lever used as a set screw on the cap in order to rotate rod to shift trans

        What brand outboard do you have? If it’s a British Seagull it only has forward and a neutral position. Interesting way they accomplish this as the prop is pushed away from the gearbox to disengage the prop.

          It’s a inboard. With shift lever at the wheel

              What type or brand of motor and control is it? Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC? The boat brand does not help due to Century using many different motors.
