With the float bowl upside down, how much should the float hang down past the bowl or should it be level?

Usually, I aim for the float to be level with the carb body when the
carb is inverted. Works for me.
Not sure if there’s an actual spec. on the distance from the carb body.

I don’t know the spec, but level like Buccaneer said is what I’ve done on that carb. You just have to be in the ballpark with these old small carbs, because float level affects gas/air mix, but you have full adjustment over that anyway with the needles. You just have to be sure you can’t blow into the gas inlet when the carb is held upside down (float valve shut) and you can blow in when the carb is upright and empty. It has to keep a reasonable level of gas, but is not critical. Float level its much more critical on fixed jet carbs.

            Thanks, I’ll try that.
