Champion 2J 4.2 hp mag / throttle setting

Is the general rule on syncing "throttle to magneto"
that when mag is on "Start", the throttle should
just start to open?
Will the engine be hard to start if the throttle plate
is off it’s seat when the mag is on "start" ?
Right now, in order to have the throttle go wide open
at mag "Fast" position, the throttle starts to open
half way between "Slow and Start"

What you have now sounds about right to me.
Remember your motor is always in gear. Having
a load on it your going to need some throttle
to get it to cold start. If you could take it out of
gear the throttle plate would only need to be just
off idle for starting IMO.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Tubs, thanks for the reply.
Got the L.U. back on a little while
ago, so about ready to give her a try
in the test tank….. may yet today, but
the weather can’t make it’s mind up
between rain and snow 😕
