Hi, new to this site and I have a Champion outboard I was wonder if someone could help with some questions. The engine is a single cylinder with a horse collar fuel tank. It has copper tubes for the water intake and discharge and a brass exhaust pipe. Also, it has the identification D1F 7632, which I’m assuming is model/serial number.
I was wondering what the “D1F” stood for. What year it would have been made. Also, was the motor design made under contract by Atwater?
Thanks for any help
December 7, 2024 at 10:35 pm #292507Champion D1F would be a 1940 model year, Challenger single. D1F is the model and 7632 is the serial number. A little blurry but enclosed is a Champion Motors spec sheet. And here is a link to some Champion outboard history.

December 8, 2024 at 5:08 pm #292524Thanks so much for the info! This was my father’s outboard along with a 2 cylinder Champion that I have no idea what happened to. Cleaning the outside of the fuel tank I can just make out the outlines and some lettering from the decals. I suppose replacement decals and rubber tiller grip is beyond hope. From now on for her will be the pampered life.
Thanks again.

Search eBay for – Champion Outboard tiller grip. There are 2 people on there that sell grips. Tubs
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
