      I’ve acquired a Champion S1G outboard.
The little information I’ve found so far tells
me it’s a 3 hp Champion Kingfisher, made in 1941

Would the decals have said "Kingfisher" on them?

What kind of water pump would it have? Metal, rubber?

      Thanks

"Kingfisher" is not on the motor decals. Only used in advertising. It has 2 impellers : one metal centrifugal, and one metal spiral (auger type) just above the cenntrifugal one. There is no ‘tell-tale’ water outlet, and it can’t have one. Water is pushed up to the powerhead, and the weight of the water coming back down in the outlet tube helps create a suction to keep water flowing at idle. Water exits this tube several inches above the anti-cavitation plate, on the left side of the motor. Once the system is full of water, and there are no air leaks, cooling at idle is ok. It may not pump in a barrel due to bubbles.

Thanks Hotrod! Hopefully the metal impellers are still useable.
I have a D1G parts outboard, so perhaps they share some of the
same parts. The powerhead looks very similar but the D1G has
the recoil starter below the powerhead.
