So,  I have a good power head on a bad lower unit and a good lower unit on a bad power head.
that being said I’m wicked new to this. What’s the simplest approach swapping power head or gear foot. If that’s the right term. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Okay Tubs,  thanks for that! The picture is very helpful. Maybe use a chisel to get them moving. Probably get new gaskets before I pull it apart?

A new gasket is always a good idea but you may get by with one of the used ones if one is still in good condition. The water tube connection would be the main concern. I wouldn’t use a chisel. Something with a blunt end would be better. If you have a spare wrench to grinding down the box end to fit, that would be the best option.

Morning tubs, yeah I am definitely wondering about that. It’s just a pice of copper pipe flared on the upper end. Getting started on it today,  after I grind down some wrenches. I’m sure I’ll be asking more questions later today. Stay cool out there!
